- President Obama's Twitter feed (as well as his Facebook page) got hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army on Monday, and I should have posted about this back then. To be clear: It wasn't really the account that got hacked, just a URL shortener, contrary to SEA's own claims. Since at this point, it's become obvious that SEA are a comedy act rather than a serious group of dedicated hacktivists intent on exposing the Western media's lies intended to cover up the Assad regime's inevitable victory in the Syrian Civil War, I shall rate this act accordingly: 4 out of 10. Sorry, dudes, but this prank lacks the inspiration and good comedic timing behind your campaign against The Onion. Step your game up, and better luck next time.
- To engage in some self-criticism: I need to step up my game, too. I only just found out about the Domestic Surveillance Directorate web site, which apparently went online back in June, during the Snowden affair. Oh, well, glad I've seen it now.
- The Duffel Blog is reporting that an NSA analyst struggling to make ends meet was forced to try and sell secrets to the Russians, but he learned the hard way that Edward Snowden has effectively put him - and everyone like him - out of business. Tragic.
- On a Halloween-related note, here are some of my favorite costumes that I have seen on Imgur today (and yes, they're mostly references to 90s pop culture):
